I guess an uneventful day is a good thing once in awhile. After a group picture with our Wilmington host, Dave, we finally had a leisurely ride out of an urban area. Our first 30 miles were fast and I felt safe on the moderately traveled road. At the first rest stop Dick needed to eat at McDonalds and in two hours he need a sub at Subway. Obviously, the combination of these two fast food restaurants was just what he needed because it was the fastest I’ve ever seen him ride. I could barely keep up with him.
I love my comfortable Aero/Tech Design high glow socks. My vest and socks were hard not to see. Safety first!
We did have a rough stretch of Rt. 17 when there was no shoulder and cars were flying by at 65 mph. I needed to break out my safety vest so cars would see me. I alway try to wear bright colors and I have two bright tail lights flashing at all times.
Tonight we’re staying in Jacksonville, NC at a Southern Baptist Church. We got in early and we went to an Irish restaurant where I had “bangers and mash.” It was surprising that I could get a delicious Irish meal in a small NC town. Life is good.
