Early Autumn in Minnesota
This morning I started my day with some anxiety because my navigation device didn’t charge overnight. I didn’t become the leader of “The Lost Boys” for no reason. Cindy assured me that I could read a paper map and she sent me on my way. I was successful in charging my gps system after 15 miles and my anxiety quickly dissipated.
The village where the Northern Tier team quarantined
I rode through the little hamlet of Dalbo where the Northern Tier team had to quarantine for 5 days in June. It had to be difficult for them camping and recovering from Covid in a place that didn’t even have a drug store.
The only place to eat in Dalbo
The ride was very uneventful through beautiful rural country. The roads were smooth and most had a wide shoulder. Traffic was extremely light and cars that passed me gave me plenty of room. Again the weather was ideal for riding and I had a tail wind more often than not.
My friends along the way
At mile 76, just after crossing the Mississippi river again, I got on the Soo Line Trail. I must mention that this far north the Mississippi River looks more like a large creek. The Soo Line Trail was paved and I only saw a few people on this pathway. The trail eventually turned into the Wobegon Trail and it lead right into Albany, MN where we’re spending the night. Those last 17 miles couldn’t have been better.
The beautiful Soo Line Trail
The Bo Ho Gallery on the Trail.
Inside the Bo Ho where the owner, Cindy gave me a free beer and a tour. A unique and lovely place along the trail.
