I Must Be a Jinx

Long deserted roads in Indiana

I planned on riding alone today but in the morning Jacob, Jade and Bernie were waiting for me. I really wanted to ride at a leisurely pace and not speed along. At the first rest stop I took off on my own. The day was cool and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The wind was mild and it was a perfect day to listen to music. After the second rest stop I was rolling along enjoying the tunes when I came upon John. I figured I’d ride with him for a short distance and then take off but before that could happen he got a flat tire. I live by the motto, ”No man left behind.” I helped John and we got on the road but just as I was getting ready to make my move and race ahead he had another flat. Obviously there was something hiding in his tire that was causing the tubes to puncture but we couldn’t find it. My laid back day was becoming stressful and long. After the third flat John called the support vehicle to pick him up and I had the remaining 30 miles to myself. This has been two days in a row that I’ve been with someone that has had multiple flats. I must be a jinx.

John be for the flats

After completing the 83 mile day I arrived at the Denver Baptist Church where Cathy, Shirley and Becky prepared a great spaghetti dinner and baked wonderful desserts. People are kind.

Wonderful church ladies
